The Clothier 4 Step Academy:

The Clothier 4 Step Academy includes  a series of classes dedicated to helping you navigate the apparel industry.  Each class will be preparing you to go through the development process and the manufacturing process, arming you with the knowledge you need for your products to be successful. The academy will also help you understand what we are working on in each of The 4 Steps. Each class will be via web although you are welcome to attend in person at our headquarters if you are able. Each session will be approximately 60-90 minutes to include some Q&A.  See the class descriptions below:

CLASS ONE: Kick off Class -  Introduction to the apparel industry and The Clothier 4 Step Process - learn what you can do to prepare for developing your product(s).

CLASS TWO: Step 1 Design Class -Learn everything that needs to happen to complete Step 1. Understand how to review designs, fabrics and trims.  Learn the basics in fabric and raw goods to help you make the best choices for your product(s). Understand the world of raw goods vendors and the difference between stock goods, made-to-order and developed-to-order.

CLASS THREE: Step 2  Prototype Class - Learn how to review prototypes with a critical eye and how to give constructive feedback. Go over how to fit a garment, wash test and other testing options.  Learn about piece goods vs dye goods. Learn about printing options including all-over vs. placed.

CLASS FOUR:  Preparing for Manufacturing -  In this class we will prep you for entering manufacturing. Understand your label options and label designs. Understand what sizes and colorways to offer and discuss grade rules.

CLASS FIVE: Step 3 Tech Design - Learn what is in a tech pack and how to use them. Go over our tech pack templates. Learn how to write a purchase order for apparel.

CLASS SIX: Step 4 Manufacturing- Learn what to expect during the manufacturing process. How does apparel manufacturing work? How does quality control work?

The Clothier Personalized 4 Step Academy:

This academy includes private classes with Mindy Martell, president of CDS, dedicated to helping you navigate the apparel industry. Each class will be catered to your specific product and to where you are at in The 4 Step process. We will develop and manufacture your clothing line while you  attend this personalized academy.  Mindy and your Design Manager will be investing their time into your specific product and your specific questions about the industry and process. Each session will be approximately 2 hours and include class time and one-on-one consultation. See the class descriptions below:

CLASS THREE: Step 2  Prototype Class - Learn how to look at your 1st prototype that we have delivered with a critical eye and how to give constructive feedback. Go over how to fit a garment, wash test and other testing options.  Learn about piece goods vs dye goods. Learn about printing options including all-over vs. placed. Includes one on one consult time with president of CDS and your Design Manager.

CLASS FOUR:  Preparing for Manufacturing -  In this class we will review your 3rd prototype  and go over prepping you for entering manufacturing soon. Understand your label options and label designs. Learn what sizes and colorways to offer, discuss grade rules, Includes one on one consult time with president of CDS and your Design Manager.

CLASS FIVE: Step 3 Tech Design - Learn what is in a tech pack and how to use them. Review line by line your product(s) tech pack we have prepared.  Finalize manufacturing plan and review all raw goods. Learn how to write a purchase order for apparel. Includes one on one consult time with president of CDS and your Design Manager.

CLASS SIX: Step 4 Manufacturing- Learn what to expect during the manufacturing process. How does apparel manufacturing work? How does quality control work? Have an on site visit during your apparel manufacturing to see it all in action. Includes one on one consult time with president of CDS and your Design Manager.
